Book 33: Working with Metals: The Origins and Applications of Common Metals

Levels: 3-4
Contextual strands: Material world icon. Material world

Synopsis

Children can easily observe some of the properties that make metals so useful. What may be less obvious to them is how the properties of specific metals relate to their uses or where metals come from.

This book gives children opportunities to investigate the physical and chemical properties that combine in various metals, the origins of metals, and how people modify metals to suit their own purposes. It develops the concepts introduced in the level 1 and 2 companion book, Introducing Metals (Book 32).
