Book 50: Storms: Extreme Weather

Levels: 3-4
Contextual strands: Living world icon. Living world , Planet Earth and beyond icon. Planet Earth and beyond

Synopsis

Topics that relate to the weather are popular for study in schools, especially the extreme and exciting conditions of stormy weather. However, as with the topics of earthquakes and volcanoes, the focus of the study is often the disastrous effects that such events cause, which make them more relevant to the social studies curriculum than to the science curriculum. This book offers an exciting context in which children can study storms within the science concepts that relate to weather.
