Book 32: Introducing Metals: The Properties and Uses of Common Metals

Levels: 1-2
Contextual strands: Material world icon. Material world

Synopsis

Children become familiar with certain metals and some of their uses at a relatively young age, so metals are a popular topic of study in school science. Some properties that make metals useful are easily observed and readily investigated, and this book offers young children opportunities to explore them. Ideas about the origins of metals and the ways in which people modify them are the focus of the level 3 and 4 companion book Working with Metals (Book 33).
