Levels: 3-4
Contextual strands: Material world icon. Material world , Physical world icon. Physical world

We have chosen insulation as the topic for this book because it provides a context in which children can investigate how heat energy flows from hotter areas to cooler areas and how insulation can reduce heat loss by reducing this flow of heat energy.

In this book, we use the term "insulation" to refer to heat insulation, sometimes called "thermal insulation". Other types of insulation include sound insulation and electrical insulation.
